caseという単語は、まずは「場合、状況」という意味を押さえておきましょう。日本語でケースという言葉を使うときも大体この意味ですね。それ以外に、「事実」という意味もあります。That’s the case. で「それは本当だ」という意味になります。
次に、caseを使ったよく出る表現を2つご紹介します。
(1) as is often the case with A 「Ａにはよくあることだが」
(2) in case that~ 「～するといけないので、～に備えて」
